I´m sorry, WB. I believed that names were between your obsessions...
![]() Thanks, Sailor Steve, for the tip of troop transport. I´ll make the Titanic and Olympic as liners in 1939 and troop transport from 1940 to 1945, via Commander. Regards. Fitzcarraldo ![]()

It is the easiest of the lot to remember and still makes me giggle occasionally - I guess it hits the right spot in my puerile sense of humour...

Or at least that was my thinking before. Now I realize that putting them in is the only way they'll get the cargo and crew listings. If anyone wants to make a quick list of ones that aren't there I'll be glad to put them into the next official release.

It's not a perfect system, obviously, since I know some of the warships in particular are scripted into their historic positions and I might sink what is definitely supposed to be the Warspite in the game and be credited with a different QE class BB in my logs. OTOH, if I manage to sink it twice in the same career, I won't be credited with sinking it twice in my logs since Commander will use a different name from that list the second time around. Also there are some ships that were the only ship in their class, like the Hood, but I did the same with them as well so that if sunk they would still show up in the logs as 'HMS Hood (Admiral class)' rather than 'HMS Hood (HMS Hood)' since IIRC Commander that's how Commander lists sunk ships in the log. A couple times I had to (gasp!) come up with a CrewRange based on guess-timating by looking at what the complement was on similar size/type ships, so some of them might be way off. I think that was mostly for smaller craft that I'd be unlikely to attack anyway, so it's no biggie. If they ever show up in an official release I'll just revise what I have to match it. I can email you the ShipNames files I have now - only two, one for 1939-41 and one for 1942-45 if you want to see the ones I added (and inform me of any egregious errors I've made in doing so ![]() |

Actually I think only the second one would be necessary, it's got everything in it that I've added including the Italian warships in case they show up as enemy vessels after 9/43.
You can PM me an email address or else point me at some place where I can just upload the file without too much hassle. I'm not familiar with setting up anything like that at any of the file-sharing sites. Won't be done 'til this evening at the earliest provided we don't have another power outage here. It was out for almost 10 hours yesterday. ![]() (And y'all thought I just ran out of stuff to say... ![]() |
