Hi, no fish left, will it sink?

I recently immobilized a C3 but was unable to use the 105 deck gun because of the gale force winds. I moved off a bit, out of visual range in order to punch up the time compression. After three days or so a wreck icon appeared on the map, but I did not receive credit for the sinking. So, I know for a fact that you can sometimes not receive credit. One time many careers ago I torpedoed a fat T3 tanker. It came to a standstill and slowly sank, taking about two hours game time to do so. I did not receive credit for the sinking. I tried various methods of hacking the files to try to manually give myself credit, but in no way was able to do so in such a manner as to be recognized by the game. That's one lump we sometimes have to swallow, I'm afraid, but not very often, thankfully.
