As I convert the first 3D Unit I'll post the
'What you MUST do' in this thread. I will not write code for a quick SH3/4 converter. In many ways? That would be a waste of my time and an insult to dedicated Modders. I pretty much figured out the way Units were done for SH5 before I started on the Exporter part. The final answers I needed came from talking to the Dev's. Dan and Vlad were most helpful without risking thier jobs. So give a big thanks to the both of them. As I only work in 3D Max, I can not answer questions if other Modelers will work. Just follow along for now and we'll see what happens. The main thing I will say for the moment? I will release a base model that all Units MUST be built around. There are no exceptions, no questions, no what if's allowed! It don't work that way yet. |

so basically you've locked the poly count to x and the person builds a 3D model that has to have x vertices and you import the changes back into the GR2 file it sounds like

There's no limits to polys. It's because of the way the SH5 uses the GR2 files. Learning to actually build a Ship and get it into SH5 will give one the knowledge to then do pretty much as one pleases. But do it wrong? Then it won't work and needless questions are asked. It's like learning to playing Baseball and then going to Football with no knowledge of the rules and wondering why you get stomped! ![]() |
