Commander is well worth a try...believe me it can enhance the game to quite a substantial degree.

Default U GUYS!!!!!

With all these advancements in the game, I'll never get through a Campain. I had to start over from Vanilla with GWX. Of course I could never go back to Vanilla. I just want to play through one. The thing as I have said about Commander that has held me off, is the limited Career time. Not that I want to be UNREALISTIC,... I just don't want the game to end. But I would like to make it past 1941, which is about as far as I ever get before I have to restart it due to an improvement. I do LOVE all the MOD people and their DEVOTION and and lack of SELFISHNESS. What MAKES COMMANDER so GREAT????? I mean I was already BLOWN away by GWX. THANK U.

Like SH3 Gen, Commander is an external tool. It lets you control SH3 from the outside, so it doesn't conflict with any mods. Just download it and read the User Guide. That will explain everything.

Default OK

Does that mean I have to start my Campain over. I didn't when I installed SHGEN. Please tell me I don't. PLEASE!!!! I am on my 6th year too. Between all that Sailor Steve said, work, and then getting married. It slowed my patrols down. Like Him as well, I don't won't to Hear THINGS either,....like FLAKMONKEY's or whatever. After I get SH Commander installed and working, U guy's may not see me till Jan.1,1943. I don't even want to know about any other mods until I FINISH and then am DEPRESSED because the SIM( my wife call's it a GAME) is over and need NEW LIFE to it. I thank U all so much. I mean if people were like U GUYS, and Gals( Frau Kaleun), in everyday life, this would be a very different world.

Technically no. Whether you really have to is up to your personality. Mine seems to be sick.

Yours too, apparently. Good luck with that.

They tend to do things like that. Then again, it seems to be part of the job description.

I've never done it (that "starting over" thing rings a few bells ) but I'm pretty sure that when you install Commander and direct it to your existing game installation, it will read the files that are already there and recognize any careers already in progress.

Wulfgar, you must be my long-lost brother (or son, but we won't go into that here)!

From the introduction of SH3 I have done exactly that same thing. Every new mod (especially the ones that improve the appearance of the ports) has forced me to start over from scratch. Rubini's original Harbor Traffic mod? Start over. Advanced AI mods? Start over. Realistic Depth Charges? Start over? RUB (the first supermod)? Start over. GWX? Start over. BBW's improved Wilhelmshaven? Start over.

Since SH1 my habit has been to run simultaneous careers, one from each Flotilla. When a career ends, due to death or retirement, I start a new one at the same place and time, so sooner or later some of my kaleuns will reach the end of the war.

But...

Six years now, and I've never gotten past mid-1940. Starting over is a pain. It's also an addiction.

I'm currently not playing at all, until I have the money for a computer that will run things like FlakMonkey's New Interiors and IABL's Merchant Fleet Mod Pack. And now there's Hans Witteman's new mod coming.

So, on one hand I truly empathize with your plight. On the other, I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ABOUT IT!
