Out of curiosity: What is wrong with the Green party in Ireland in your opinion or why did the Irish voters teach them a lesson as you say?

I am asking because I am not familiar with the political landscape in Ireland. I would presume that Green party Ireland is similar to the Green Party in Germany, "alternative-ecological", slightly left from center or whatever it is. Would not people blame the Conservatives or Labour for the present economic situation in Ireland? That is what I would have expected.
