I tried it (in the game, not real life).

IMO, it is not for the faint of heart. It can be done, but absorbs a lot of time and energy, making taking on the IJN almost an afterthought. There is a thread for Celestial Navigation in the forum. It is well worth reading if you want to try it.

i downloaded the Trigger Maru Overhauled and put it through jsgme and i then launched the game,the problem is when the screen comes up of the "galloping ghost of japanese coast" the bar loads up to around 90^ and just freezes,then when i use the windows key ti get back to desktop it says error "file menu not found data/menu/data/black 80 tga.

does anybody know how to fix this please i have uninstalled 3 times and still same error,game works fine as stock.

Im using the 1.3 patch do i need to upgrade to the 1.4 patch or should it work with 1.3?

Only very old versions would work with 1.3 or 1.4. Anything more recent would require the 1.5 version uboat missions upgrade.

I'd encourage all of these mods.
