But I'm curious as to how? Unless you intentionally go retarded at the beginning of each career, to simulate the greenness of a new skipper, I would assume you are competent, if not very skilled at manual targeting. Doesn't the game intentionally have more ships come your way, cause as someone once put it, it would be hard to market SH3, Boredom in the Atlantic. Do you mod the game to reduce contacts, etc? To answer the OP, My best is 123,704, but that was only 5 ships total! ![]() ![]() 7.6.40. 0503Grid BF 76Ship sunk! SS Ariosto (Small Freighter), 1662 tons. Cargo: Foodstuffs. Crew: 27. I have only managed about 5,000 GRT in a VIIB in 1941.

A patrol that I think even Jim would consider aggressive enough:
![]() Was in a type VIIB in March of 41' and had zero luck finding any convoys as I kept heading west; once I finally passed the Belchen supply ship I said screw it and would just go straight to the source - Halifax. By the time I got there the weather was pretty much a gale so was able to travel around on the surface in the otherwise very shallow water to get to the promised land: ![]() In the time it took to get from the main Halifax harbor to this staging area the weather started to ease up a bit so that I was able to see the targets from ~1000m away instead of 400m like it was when I entered the harbor and sunk the big tankers there. Then used the deck gun to finish off all the remaining large targets that I wasn't able to use a torpedo on or they didn't sink with just 1 eel. |

Too much later in the timeline when all merchants are armed makes getting into this area nearly impossible. Only with the most severe/zero visibility weather (and nightime) do you have any hope of getting through, the route isn't mined but extremely shallow. If you don't go down the middle you ground you end up beaching your boat. |

What sort of ASW did you get in there? And how did you ever get out?

I just saw MN perking up at the words Deck Gun. I love my deck gun, but the epic stories I've heard from MN make me smile every time I fire mine. And pssssst: I perked up too, any 'convoy' that I can use a deck gun is a good convoy. |

My obsessive / compulsive nature, however, thinks you sank exactly one ton too many.

it appears I under-estimated my best patrol. One I did back in april 2010 when in command of U-103 in one of my first GWX campaign's.
