See it? About 25 air to ground strike silhouettes painted on. Not long before we start seeing aircraft silhouettes painted on there too...

25 training shots....notice blue stripe on hellfire. Picture looks like was taking at Creech AFB. In AOR they don't paint that **** for obvious reasons.

Air to Air combat? Yeah. Good luck with that.

Oh how the good old days have gone.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the man to the far left standing behind von Richthofen the famed Erich Loewenhardt?

True, when the aircraft was just a tool and it was the pilot's experience and skill that mattered.

can't tell ...but I recognize Anthony Fokker sitting next to Richtofen.

$#@%^ #$#$% @#&$@%!!! Suck all the life out of wanting to fly combat aircraft. Christ. Clear back into the late eighties they started screwing us with these damn drones.

At least the trash haulers will have something to look forward to. Until someone figures out how to automate that, too. The ****ers.

Actually, isn't the majority of commercial aircraft semi-automated already?

I'd think it wouldn't be that hard to automate heavy lifting aircraft over routine routes for military.

Some interesting tidbits for all the doubters of remote controlled A/A out there...

Video of a Dogfight between a Iraqi MiG and a USAF Predator armed with Stingers. Unfortunately the Predator lost. Quite possably the first Air to Air with an unmanned combat aircraft.

The DASH drone a shipborne ASW heli-drone controlled by a station the size of a kitchen oven plus a radio and rated to carry either torpedoes or nuclear bombs... developed back in 1960... the DASH is still in service as a target drone.

The SSM-N-8 Regulus a nuclear cruise missile capable of being remote flown by ship, submarine or fighter aircraft (yes fighter aircraft) and could even land to abort its mission. Developed in 1955!

Do I need to mention the TACTOM and SLAM-ER, with their man-in-the-loop control system?

Wouldnt be that hard at all to equip them with some AMRAAMS, slave the seeker head to the nearest AWACs, and have the guy in the AWACS push the fire button.

That is not going to work with 20+ year old aircraft (AWACS). Also usual ROE is to have visual confirmation and finding something through a straw with 2-3 second delay is a huge limiting factor.

The Reaper is already cleared for carrying the AIM-9s IIRC.

Well against a foe like China armed drones would give us an edge, and of course the drone has its own sensors to get an ID and since its a lot smaller than a manned aircraft it can get closer to a potential enemy fighter with less risk of being detected.
