Hilarious coming from conservatives since the Reps are the ones who got us in to so much debt.

Not conservatives. Republicans perhaps. What we call RINOs. Republicans in Name Only. Those folks who, if they don't lose their seats, are on hotice of their probationary status.

It's a helluva ad. Poignant and scary.

However, it doesn't really address the problem we have regarding trade with China, and that is a massive trade deficit due to our markets being far more open to Chinese goods than vice versa.

Its an advert. It gives the idea whithout the 86 hour tutorial. It gets to the heart of the matter and plays upon the emotions at the same time.

It is a great advert!!!

Very well done. And I see that a few of can't even talk about it without leaping into the same old trap of blaming "the other guys". Until you start blaming your own side, if you have one, you'll never accomplish anything.

Agreed, but I would change the word "blame" into the phrase "holding accountable". In a relatively free market economy such as ours, government (correctly) has limited power. As such, it can and should do only so much. That being said, with the power that they DO have, they are accountable to taking responsible steps in addressing problems that do arise. And if, either by way of action or inaction, those problems are not addressed properly, the people involved need to be held accountable.

Unfortunately, the ever-present need to "spin" the facts into something palletable to what one agrees with rears its ugly head here, and instead of battling in the arena of ideas we fight it out by way of measuring the motivation of our ideological base.

They absolutely contributed, but BO et al have now spent more than W et al did in a far longer time frame. To blame the Republicans, the dems would have to have STOPPED the spending, not accelerated it.

Quote:
Calculations by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office and other independent fiscal experts show that the $1.1 trillion cost over the next 10 years of the Medicare prescription drug program, which the Republican-controlled Congress adopted in 2003, by itself would add more to the deficit than the combined costs of the bailout, the stimulus and the health care law.

...

At the same time, most Republicans are calling for the permanent extension of all Bush-era tax cuts, which would add $700 billion more to the deficit over the next 10 years than President Obama and Democratic leaders have proposed by continuing only some of the lower rates.

...

On the campaign trail, many Republicans are calling for a repeal of the health care law, a step that would actually increase the deficit by more than $100 billion over 10 years, according to the Congressional Budget Office, by eliminating some cost-saving provisions — a fact that typically goes unmentioned.

And you people believe the garbage spouted off in these ads. Pick your favorite piece of political propaganda? I'd rather not.
