You will find the mine defences of Kiel were laid (in game terms) from Jan 38 and remained until Dec 45.

So there are mines in the training missions? And no mention of them in the SH3 User Manual (which is useless, granted; still)?
Thank you Ubisoft for making the game easy for newbies. I am not sure I would have stayed with the game if I had gotten blown up in training.

There is a page you can pull down (from I think the periscope station) in the upper left hand corner of your screen that shows you where the defensive mine fields are laid out at all the ports. This is in GWX 3.0 Gold.
