I've been playing SH5 since release. Only had two CTD (and my system is way under the min specs needed for the game), one from listening to other subs on hydrophones (fixed with a mod now) and had a CTD from using the Evironment Mod. Removed the "climatezones.tga" file from the mod and no more CTD.

Oh and i follow the save ettiqute rules posted by wolfling04.
Do not save withing 50km of a port, ship or while submerged.

It was the environment mod doing it, so I disabled it.

If its Env Mod 3.xx then all you have to do is before enabling the mod just delete the climatezones.tga and the climatezones.cfg and the mod will run great.

Ok this is really helpful guys. I have mods installed and i had the environment mod installed so i removed it. What i will do is though over the next couple of weeks is try removing those cfg's and trying stock and identify if it is another mod and see if I get any improvements. Its going to take time to test though because I have had different sorts of crashes at different numbers of hours played. I will post back results after my patrol

Hi guys,
I played Silent Hunter 5 over the weekend. After reinstalling the game, installing the patch and installed certain mods the game has not crashed at all which means that I have fixed my crashing and save game load problems. When i installed the mods using the generic mod enabler I made sure that NO MODS gave the conflicted message although I had to give in and let TheDarkWraiths UI mod to overwrite its files but these came with the mod so I was sure they were tested. Had a great time with Silent Hunter 5 and with the mods I have installed, it far exceeds silent hunter 3. The AI mod I have installed is superb. Plus I was having a go at manual targeting, researching how to do it etc thanks to this forum. Hope this helps people who are still having issues with the game crashing.

I will post the mods and their order tommorow for people that are interested.
