And I always turn off auto-loading, but for a different reason. In real life they couldn't reload on the surface in heavy seas, and they couldn't reload underwater during combat as steep and sudden depth changes could be a disaster. So I never reload until the fight is over and I'm in a stable invironment, either surfaced in calm water or deep and slow with no danger nearby.

As for the different types, it's true that with auto-reload off you can choose your type, but I'm always playing early war so I usually only have G7a anyway.

The only thing I don't like about turning off automatic reloading is that I forget to reload the tubes after battle sometimes thus leaving a nasty surprise during next the battle.

Yep that's why I deck gun all but very large ships since its still early 1940. Saves torpedoes and no dealing with loading, gonna be depressing when air coverage gets better or merchants get armed because that gun is such a nice weapon.

The "I" button is a quick key shorcut to the torpedo screen. I always disable it but have learned not to forget to reload. Like Sailor Steve, I reload in a realistic manner. After I fire I evade and only reload as SS mentioned.

Thanks for the additional info. Obvious if you think about it, but I never had until now. I'll add them to my increasingly long list of torpedo restrictions.

We had an interesting thread on the subject of playing 'realistically' awhile back.
