I think since it's called the internet and because I hardly open any local websites I see no point in testing with local or even domestic server.
There is, the ping is huge and your indicated speed suffers a lot because of that.

Indeed : I do not even do this at my end.

There's no difference for me

My subscription is 1.5Mbps btw

Proof

Local

Abroad

Even faster here than local server, Netherland I believe,

Or just as fast with San Diego

I guess my top speed is already so low that it's not as adversely affected by ping as the others

Test result with international servers vary though according to time of day at least while I'm using COMODO internet security. The above tests were done at 6.35 AM with Comodo Internet Security running. Tests usually degrade in performance towards afternoon before becoming excellent again at night(6PM and later) and streaming(Youtube) is worst affected when it's at its worst especially if I'm using COMODO Internet Security. Weird thing is download is usually stable at a little more than 180kB/s(~1.5Mbps) so while I might not be able to stream youtube at those hours smoothly I could download them much faster almost at full speed. . . .Speed seems to be much more stable and faster throughout the day when I used Outpost Firewall instead of COMODO Internet Security however.

Right now, this is what I get at work, slower than usual but that isnt too much of a surprise, the academic year just started and students are probably taking up a little of the bandwith.
