Yeah, I copy pics from subsimmers, museum websites, friends, and anywhere else I can get them for my personal comprehensive worldwide virtual military museum. It's just a bunch of pics classified by location that I can peruse when I can't visit the actual museums/battlefields/memorials myself. Not as good as the real experience of course, but it saves film, time, and money.

Por ejemplo, I have about 500 pics from the Kubinka museum in Moscow. Never been there myself, probably won't ever get there, but I've seen most of it now, anyway.

Well alright then. I'll be back for those, but easy on the flash next time please. Most of those model pics didn't make the cut.

Thanks for the additions, though.

I know what a virtual museum is, but I didn't know you made/were making one. That's cool! Would love to see it.

And I'd love to show it and its thousands of pictures to you. The only question is how; there's a lot of pictures. You wanna come to my house?

If you want pictures from a particular location, feel free to PM me and ask. My collection is far from complete, and you'll be able to find many of the pictures I have on the internet, but I'd be happy to share what I've collected.

Ahhh. I see. I thought you were putting it online. Any chance of you uploading a few of your choice pics? It is okay if the answer is no, I just think that everyone would enjoy them.

I guess I can pick through them and copy them to a new folder and upload them. That only leaves me with the question of which to upload. We've all seen Cavalla and Texas from the subsim events. I've got some good ones from my Ukranian stepmother, including old pics of the Lubyanka(political prison) and Soviet War memorials, some pictures of the RAF Museum at Duxford (and that flying Me-109 they used to have, before they crashed it),
Lots of stuff from the Confederate Air Force Museum, Smithsonian, Chicago Museum of Science and industry, Scottish Castles, English Forts and Ports......I think I even have some pics of that old fossil - Sailor Steve

Quite a bit to sort through, but I think I'll go through them this wekend and start a museum thread for people to post pics in the coming week. The more I think about it, the more I like the idea.

Cool. Still, please don't feel the need to spend your whole weekend doing that. I'd feel bad.

Lovely pics Jim.

My wife is a teacher and takes the kids there once a year - she says I'd love it but she hates it as she's seen it once or twice before, or three, or four... and she always goes in winter and it's fffffreezing!

I'll make sure I go one day though, not far for me either

There's still more to come

I know what she means, I couldn't really imagine visiting the place more than twice perhaps, unless there were additional exhibits to see.
