Surprising to find someone who has not heard of Mary Celeste, arguably the most famous of them all. She even figured in a Dr. Who episode back in 1964.
Unfortunately, sensationalism is always a bigger draw than fact, and though the truth about Mary Celeste is still not known, the facts that are known have been distorted to make it look more mysterious than it really is. Quote:
