I was able to make aircraft attack you now instead of just fly by BUT there's a problem with it. There's no way to get the airplane to cease attacking you. Once you are detected you are always detected even if you submerge There's no way to break the 'detected'. Therefore the airplane zips back and forth dive bombing your location and strafing the water with guns where you would be if you weren't submerged. It will continue to do this until it's either out of cannon ammo or runs out of fuel. Running out of fuel is what usually happens first
Now I see why the devs had it setup that they wouldn't attack you unless they either had bombs or torpedoes. If they didn't have either then they just flew by ignoring you. If they did have them then they attacked until they ran out of bombs/torpedoes then they proceeded to follow their waypoints again. This is a big problem that they need to fix ASAP

Most aircraft over fly me but I have been straffed a couple of times a mission.

wait a minute.

Historically, aircraft were probably the single biggest threat to the U-boats.

and they arent even properly modeled in the game????

its like playing aliens vs predator - only the aliens all ignore you

the airplane's AI is severely crippled in this game. They have limited commands that can be used. Now contrast this with the ships and AI subs - they have a huge command list and you can basically do anything you want with them. It's quite apparent that the airplane's weren't given hardly any attention but they are the most important (in my eyes) in the game.
It's so ridiculous that the airplane has to have either a bomb or torpedo on it in order for it to attack you with it and cannons. Once that bomb or torpedo has been fired it goes back to following waypoints even though it has cannon ammo left. The devs made it this way because it's too stupid to know that you submerged and it can't see you anymore (it still thinks it sees you even though you are 40+ meters down ). So airplanes that only have cannon ammo just fly right by you and don't even come to investigate or take a shot at you. Like I mentioned before I can make them come and investigate and shoot at you with those cannons but then it's a suicide mission for them - they will eventually run out of fuel and crash The lucky ones will run out of cannon ammo and then return to following waypoints.

What about reducing the cannons munitions stock carried aboard a plane?

Giving them munitions for only 3-4 pass or something around this?

I was thinking about giving them 'dummy' bombs that were invisible and did no damage so that they would at least come investigate you and fire cannons on you. If they dropped the 'dummy' bombs then they would cease attacking and return to following waypoints.

This is how Wamphyri's mod works, which uses the dummy bombs made by AOTD MadMax.

If you investigate torpedo bombers, you'll find that they fly off and circle near to you endlessly, without attacking you. When you fix that and get them to attack and drop torpedoes, you'll find the torpdedoes don't float.

If someone can get them to float, they probably won't explode. It's pretty demoralising work really.

What exactly do these guys get paid for . Retard AI, Aircraft that may as well be hot air ballons - Aircraft should have been giving the most priority, after all they sank the most u-boats .

Gaming need a revolution . Devs need to go back to the old ways get the gameplay right then the graphics.

A game with Good gameplay and crap graphics is playable
A game with Crap gameplay and good graphics is not. Simple as that.
I have plenty of new release gathering dust for that reason, Looked good but after 5 mins of play had me reaching for the power switch.

the early war air cover, the hurricane mk1 could this work? give them enough ordanance for 2 passes (like they'd get more shots than that) once they're out of our sight range, does it really matter if they have any remaining ammo? it would deffinately be at the very least a bandaid to give us the impression the RAF was attmepting to do something. the rest of them deffinately need fixed.

i've been lucky so far that i've not seen any other types of aircraft, so haven't had the oppurtunity to be ignored by something that should be more aggressive and be flat out ignored by it.
