What I want to know is.. The book is a classic piece of literature. Why can't ANYONE acutally follow THE DAMN BOOK when making a movie of it ??? Seriously !!! Not one "Alice In Wonderland" movie has gotten it right yet !!

Ah, but that's true of so many movies, ever since the beginning. Some make a small attempt, some don't even try.

I was a little disappointed by the White Queen's chess soldiers. I thought they should have been bigger and less numerous to reflect the struggle of good against a sea of chaos, much as chess is a game of skill while cards are a game of luck. It also would have been cool if they moved like chess pieces. Like Blacklight, I'm not sure I totally approve of the reinvention of Wonderland. The book was a complex social satire, the movie is a 100-minute long sledgehammer that pounds the idea that nonconformity is good into viewers' heads. Not that I'm against nonconformity, far from it; I'm a rabid individualist, but even I got tired of the obvious parallels between the "real-life" characters and the Wonderland characters.

Even after all that, I'll probably watch it again, though only for what I would call a "visually-entertaining experience".

Not that that's always a bad thing, mind you

Thought it was okay. Johnny Depp saved the movie from being a flop imho

Well Depp can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your viewpoint of him as an actor.

It sounds like a Netflix movie. Too bad it looked promising.

I kinda liked it, maybe because I haven't read the book and the only Alice movie I had seen before this was probably some disney cartoon. Well, Depp made a solid, maybe one could say "safe" performance as Cpt. Jack Sparrow in Wonderland (I hope he gets more serious roles in the future, Sweeney Todd & Public Enemies were grrreat performances). Can't say I liked the style, not the usual Tim Burton IMHO, anyone could've done that.

Ow and Alice was HOT. She looks the same as my ex's friend... maybe I should ask if I could have a peek into her rabbit hole the next time I see her.
