But then I've never been aboard a sub in my life, so I don't know what these hatches would sound like for "real".
I don't have the game yet so I can't comment on the in-game sounds, but the ones from SH3 are pretty good. One-half-inch-thick steel weighs forty pounds per square foot, so if we assum the hatches are only half that thick even the smallest ones will weigh around two hundred pounds (assuming I figured that right, which I probably didn't). Even if it's only twenty pounds the hatch should close with a good solid metallic thunk.

plus when going down into the sub it would probable sound even deeper (bass) because of the smaller space. that might already be in the game though.. i 4get. too many mods plus the patch means a long time to upgrade sh5.. poop

I tell you what, mate - I think you are missing out!

There are some tremendous mods for SH5 now, as I'm sure you are aware, and the sheer work put in by their creators is admirable and inspiring.

I visit the mods workshop daily if I can to see what's on offer!

Regards.

Yeah, the hatches do sound like we're on a sub made out of tin sheet metal. As far as hatches go, what would be really good, would be to add locking animations. I doubt this is possible, but it would add another layer of depth to the game, I think.

Could we have some ships skins? I'd love to have more smaller ships in the game (1000 ton steamers, every ship in every convoy being 7000 tons is really making for some unrealistic killboards), but i'd settle for ships having big flags and letters on the side.

I also miss radio messages and intercepts from ships and other subs, news from home, ect. The whole captains log could really use a rework.

As far as graphics and sound go we are fine. oh wait. COULD THE ENGINE NOISE NOT BE SO DAMN LOUD!? I play this game at night and need to have the sound turned all the way off so i dont hear *Clunk RATTLE RATTLE SLAM CLUNK RATTLE*. I know diesel engines are loud as hell but i think outside the sub you should hear wind and sea spray, not engine noise as if you were right next to the engines.

There we go, more wind noise and sea sounds outside the sub. Get it done.

Engine Rpm changes with power changes, opposed to VOLUME!!!!
This bug sucks big time.
It is a bug from SH4 1.0
I can't believe this bug made it into Sh5 and did not get corrected by the patch.

Oh, and the hatches for vertical tubes had mondo springs that I would think would result in the hatch being relatively quiet.

you can just rename the files and throw some in your SH5 sound folder
Thanks Sober. DO you know what the ones specifically relating to Battlestations are called?
