I've got the uncut version on DVD and the cinema version taped on VHS. Planning on buying Director's cut.

I found the Director's Cut to be a little boring-too many scenes of them just sitting around. Even though it has an extra hour-and-a-half of footage, I thought the 'Uncut' version was less boring. The narration helped, and there was more dialogue to keep it moving.
That said, I agree-the Director's Cut has much better subtitles. Oh, I have a copy of the Theatrical release on tape, the Director's Cut on tape (had it on DVD but I likewise gave it away) and the 'Uncut' version on DVD. |

Only got the directors cut at the moment though if I get enough cash together I aim to get the uncut one at some point. I've watched the series, it was on TV over Christmas...probably will be again this year, so I hope to be able to get the uncut version
