This again comes down to the granny files which at present we can't change. Sh3/4 didn't use granny and it was "easy" to adjust animations.

You are mistaken, it was not easy... it was hardcoded. In SH4 the trick was used, which led to discrepancy of propellers and engines... it was possible to see at damages...

Sigh, no luck then... Or should I say, yet?

And no, reversing the animation is not the solution. Currently the propellers turn the right direction for their incorrect layout, that is, when going forward each prop is spinning the right way to be moving water in the right direction. Swapping it would make it look like you were in reverse when you're going forward.

This is why Anvart's creative solution involved swapping the shafts, but also kept the (game) engine from registering the change, so the right prop was still connected to the right engine, even though its model was for the 'left' prop.
