I used to add a "von" to my own name , but having recently rediscovered SH3, I just let SH3 commander pick one now.

I just let Commander give me choices, and I select ones that appeal to me. In a sense I suppose I roleplay as well as subsim, so it doesn't matter to me all that much about their names (just as long as it isn't Bernard, that is!)
