It turned out that installing Visual C# 2008 had messed it all up, apparently SH5 doesn't like Visual C++ 2008 redist - I had to un-install all my 08 redist stuff, and then download and re-install Visual C++ 2005 redist - all works a charm now! Dang microsoft stuff! Thanks for all your replies chaps!
