My mistake then I misread what was written. I know there is no love lost between the Kriegsmarine and the Luftwaffe but I am glad to see that we are not causing their demise.

At that stage of the war, you took a big chance using your deck gun.
Especialy in the bay, with a very vulnerable IXC.
This time it just didn't pan out well for you, or your crew.
Dissapointment yes. Surprise no.

Another negative about using your deck gun is that you are definately DETECTED, which has long term effects on your relationship with aircraft.

So heavily patrolled from the air and on the surface that U-boats were forced to transit it inward and outward bound...submerged.

Hi guys,

Yep, it was a big blow. Up until then I had been doing great and I got sunk by a freak accident - literally. Oh well, I need a break from SH3 anyway. I'm so busy with schoolwork these days I only get to play the game on the weekends.

I knew the deck gun was risky business, but I didn't want to sink this merchant with a valuable torpedo. Besides, I didn't expect any enemy air activity in the region either. And I really thought I could deal with an enemy A/C that suddenly appeared, at least long enough to sink the merchant and then dive away to safety.

By the way, does anyone know how I can reset the order to dive to periscope depth at the very sighting of an aircraft? I set this as the standard order but I would like to give the order myself now. Anyone know how I can do it?

I've searched Google and used the search function here but I can't find any information.

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that if you hit ESC during a patrol, somewhere there is an option to re-set the default actions on spotting a ship or plane.

Then the next time you spot one, you'll get the pop up dialog question again, and can chose what you want.

I think this is what you were asking
