Like others here I only transfer all all stop in calm weather.
Never been caught during a transfer. What do others do if caught on the surface in the middle of a transfer? Stay on the surface and fight it out? Or dive, then later eject the torpedo, on the basis that you'd abandoned it during the panic? |

Well, although I've never transferred except in calm weather and all stop, I have dove on the rare occasion I've been spotted. But not after 2 weeks ago, when I'd done some reading and learned that it was impossible for a U-boat to dive once they'd started until they'd finished. Once I'd read that and took a moment or two to consider things that made dreadfully obvious sense. ![]() ![]() So, since I'd read that, I've chosen to no longer dive, no matter what. Makes choosing when/where/how I transfer a lot more, hmmmm . . . tactical. ![]() |
