You can also edit the .cfg file within the SH3 directory,this then allows you to edit what the game awards you in renown,in my case I have edited the game to award me +200 just for returning to port manually,which apparently was not included in the game.I recently found all this out and it is a very useful tool.
You can also minimize the renown penalty for sinking neutrals (set value figure zero) too,which can be a serious pain at times,but now I have installed a 'lighter flags' mod at night allowing me to engage ships properly at night at close ranges,before the flags were totally blacked out.
If the flags mod works to my liking I will then revert the neutral penalty back to -1.
