You sink unless you set full or flank speed on the engine telegraph. If you try ahead slow or ahead 1/3, your sub's depth continues to increase. Even hitting the S key to surface didn't work unless you were going fast.
Running at Flank speed makes a lot of noise and if you are trying to evade an escort, he's going to latch onto you and not let go. Also, surfacing with an escort up there is not a good idea. I suppose you can pop up real quick to get everything reset, take your chances on the surface with the escort, and head back down. I thought about trying that but some RL issues popped up and by the time I got those handeled, it was too late-nothing could get me to the surface. ![]()

Couldn't you just select a custom depth on the gauge? The sub would level out; it would take a minute or so.
Unless you were near crush depth already, I don't see how it can be such a loss. Why abandon the game for an earlier save? |

How deep were you when "Bernard" pressed the C Key?
Did you order a different depth after "Bernard" pressed C? |

DID is highly sbjective anyway. Were you realy dead or just naping vigerously? Who is to say? Perhaps you were just thuroly inspecting the crush depth of this particular U-boat for the beterment of the greater U-boat Waften. Better yet you could have simply been making a detailed inspection of the insde of your eye lids to ensure that no Tommie propaganda was snuck in there when you weren't looking; those Tommie basterds are clever like that you know.
Beter yet this "Bernard" you referance could have been one of those doubble O's I hear so much about working for that mysterious "M" cherichter. I for one would not put it beond the ability of our most clever and alusive island foe. I mean just think of it, all that time just siting on that island with nothing much to do. It is only a mater of time befor they start ploting our down fall. More likely than not you were just an unwiting victem of there vendictive trickery for no reason other than having the common deasancy for living in a country that takes more than a day's time to walk across. Kill them all I say! Last edited by Dissaray; 03-19-10 at 06:03 PM. |

This has happened a couple of times before but the results have always been better. I've always made a mental note to NEVER EVER do that again. ![]() Here is something that I discovered yesterday after work: I started a new career in the Med and started a patrol. I crash dived from the surface and the same thing happened. WTF! ![]() I did a little experimenting and it kept happening. I thought it might be a mod issue. I have been on a hiatus from playing SH3 since about August and just started up again last week. I added some different mods that came out since and resumed a Black Sea career and didn't have any problems with the mix of mods. I returned to the Med after completing a patrol in the Black Sea and that is where the problem started. ![]() After doing some testing-all in Naval Acedemy missions, I found a couple of mods that, when removed, the crash dive problem went away and I had depth control back. ![]() I thought "Cool, Maybe I can get going again with actually playing the game." ![]() Wasn't meant to be. When I started another new career in the Med, I got repeated CTD's when starting the game(after selecting crew, equipment, etc.). NOW WHAT!!!! ![]() Back to square one-disabling mods and seeing if there is some kind of conflict. I think I found the problem, but it was getting late last night and I had to quit. I got the game stable with some of the mods enabled-installation order is important sometimes-and that's all I got to say about that (RTFM ![]() I hope to get back up and running this afternoon/evening if all goes well. ![]()
