Well... it seems their game and web/forum servers are both down. And if they're really as dumb as this DRM situation makes them look, the idiots probably have their email and CRM systems running on the same boxes.

Assuming they wanted to, how exactly would they communicate with us? Thought bubbles?

Seriously though, there's always the SH5 facebook and twitter pages....

I work like a carthorse all week, up at 6 and work until 6.
I then come home each night and make dinner for my son who I then bath and put to bed.
It's a Saturday and I have just done the usual husband and father things such as go for long lingering walks with the wife and I then chase my son all over the beach.
Just as I get both of them fed and into bed I decide to boot up SH5 and I am confronted with this S**T!
Screw you ubisoft, why do you taunt us?

I sincerely hope no one is surprised by this.

I don't support this game in its current iteration, but I do wish those who bought it in good faith could actually play it.

I was able to connect after a couple of attempts. Now I'm afraid to close the game in fear that I will not be able to play this evening, so I guess I will just pause it?

I feel bad for you guys and can't see how you continue to put up with this DRM sh!t.

Hopefully next time a game gets released with ridiculously draconian DRM, we'll be more unified in boycotting the nonsense so these companies stop treating their customers like this.

And I wouldn't blame anyone for using questionable means in order to play the game they paid for.

It's the last ubi game I ever buy.
I just hope that at some point in the games future they let go of SH5 from the DRM.

Wasn't there a 'press release' from a pirate group announcing that as Ubisoft had said that 'if the game servers go down, they would release a patch to remove DRM', then the pirate group said that they were going to take the server down with a DDOS?

I don't know how true that is, because obviously Ubisoft said that in the context of the servers being retired, not denied, but did that press release actually occur? It can't all be a big Ubisoft conspiracy, unless they are posting false reports, or false press releases before their servers go down? They aren't that smart.

The Far Cry 2 forums imply otherwise.

I highly doubt any of the hackers attacking Ubi's servers remotely care about SH5. Mostly it's over Far Cry 2 and some of their other ladder ranked games.

I contacted Play.com today and told them the situation and they have agreed to take back my copy and refund me.

SHV is the last Ubisoft game I will ever buy. I will spend my money with games publishers that give a f*ck and actually produce games that work.

Feel sorry for the developers - they should really try and find another publisher before its too late.

I've been running SH3 all morning, not a problem.

Say have yu'uns ever though of using the old fashioned telephone?
Try calling them, the phone systems still work like they always have.

No way is it Dos attacks.
its every one trying to use the servers at the weekend.
looks to me like anyone that wants to play SH5 or AC2
will be playing weekdays only.
they have only 2 games out????
whats it going to be like
when the servers are trying to run 4 or 5 games you will be lucky
to get on once a month.
