Very nice. Thanks Neal! Looks like there's quite a few different animations going on. Appears to be two main types - those for on duty and various loitering animations for off duty.

absolutely love the sound of the (inferior uboat) diesels, and proper german dive alarm sound.

Default To me the textures look washed-out

Maybe they aren't the full resolution they will come with in the game, or maybe it has to do with the resolution the video is being captured at, but on the latest video in particular on the surface I thought the sky and waves and boat etc. looked dull and lifeless. Similarly much of inside the boat doesn't look as good as the (admittedly too heavy for my PC to run without some hitching) textures in e.g. the open conning tower / open hatch mods with the FlakMonkey engine room, etc.

And the Sims "..." bubble over the 1WO's head - sure hope I can turn that off along with the glowing highlights.

On the positive side, the pumps and pipes and whatnot to the left of the hatch when walking to the rear of the ship looked very good.

Loved the sounds of the engines and the animation there.

I actually like the idea of my crew being able to do things better (e.g. get a little more speed out of the engines, repair things faster, reload torps faster) instead of just gaining stamina or whatever happens in SH3 when they gain experience.

I liked the guys mentioning we found an enemy task force. Nobody ever says "we found a convoy" in SH3 that I can recall, there are just lots of reports of ships sighted or contacts detected on hydrophones.

Boy if there was an easy-to-use scripting language for the crew, etc., imagine the kind of missions we could create with the right mission editor. Wonder if the game will come with one. It would be like the kind of adventures one can create with Neverwinter Nights (but hopefully without the +1 diesel fuel or the captain's Luger of intimidation).

Funny, i realized that the crew description on the SH website fits perfectly:

remember when the guy takes something to eat while the cook turns away?

Chief Engineer: Josef Erdmann

[...] He has a weak spot for sweats and candy. [...]

Pretty nice video, thanks Neal!

However, two things bug me:

1. The Sound guy reports ship contacts while the submarine is still on the surface and doing 6-7 knots( "Halbe fahrt")... Is this possible? I don't thinks so.

2. The watch officer (or somebody from the crew) reports new ship contacts whispering. Why does he whisper while the submarine is on the surface and the diesel engines are still working? I can see no point in it.

Sorry for the "negative vibes".

Oh, great! I didn't notice those.

1) I did see that in some of the preview screenshots. I had hoped it would be gone in the release version, and it still might be. I'm worried to find that the preview version still has it.

2) This is a bug that go all the way back to SH3. The only time the crew should ever whisper is when I order silent running.

And, in my opinion, pointing out an actual flaw is not having "negative vibes", just good sense.

thanks a lot!!! your work is more and more appreciated

even one men, who knows about our needs here.

but i am very upset, seeing those robot crew...the animations are not smooth and realistic. reminds me of sh3 somehow...why dont the use motion capture? we have 2010...and even sports games have much better animations...
