Hi,

The best way to start modeling is to do a search and get and learn GMAX.

GMAX is free modeling software very similiar to 3ds Max. By playing with Gmax you will see if you want to continue with modeling without actually having to put any investment into expensive software.

Once you learn the Gmax, and you decide that modeling is for you, then you need to secure a copy of 3ds Max version 3.0 or 3.1, and use the exporter (note the exporter does not work with newer versions of Max) to make the model usable in game, as well as then edit the text files that give the model its operational characteristics.

You will not be able to make "Controllables"; Sonalyst has said they will allow AI models/scenery to be added, however they want the ability to follow the game up with new controllables for expansion paks if interest in the game is high enough to make it viable.

Good Luck!
Beer
