Lothar Gunther-Buccheim, in the book Das Boot, described the specific way each of the officers took his daily lemon ration. If I remember correctly the Chief Engineer put a spoonful of sugar directly in his mouth, then ate the lemon slice. The 'special cocktail' was the favorite of the 2WO. This is very nicely depicted in the movie. No mention is made of it being a regular u-boatman's drink, just one man's idea of teasing his fellows with his weird habit.

We can all thank god that Ubi finally started to get serious and start to code and simulate the important stuff. Been long over due. Soup is what has been missing from SH - SH4. What is next in store in the SH line???

SH6 - March, 2011

Quote:
917 lbs. fresh lemons
"Herr Kaluen? How is the lemonade?"

SH7- 2012
Quote:
1,226 lbs. bread dough
"Herr Kaluen? How would you like a nice Knish? you look skinny! Here take two"

Submarine simulation at its zenith.

I vote for a fully modeled chocolate cake!

One of my favorite things in the book Das Boot is when there's a surprise dessert of chocolate cake, two slices per man, after which the cook hastily explains to der Alte that he HAD to make several chocolate cakes in order to use up eggs that were in danger of going bad.
