There's a lot we don't know, and some that some know that others do not. Some UFO sightings could well be tomorrows B-2, I dread to think how many UFO sightings that girl sparked while under testing, or perhaps they are ships, for all we know they could have found a way around the space/time issue, wormholes possibly, or space folding, the theories are endless but the fact is, to us, unknown.
However, to answer the original question:
Yes, UFOs are definately real because anything that is flying and cannot be readily ID'd is a UFO until proven otherwise. Be it ID'd as a weather balloon or a Skunk Works creation, but as for alien craft? Who knows? The general public certainly don't, despite what some may claim.

But, as SteamWake said, to simply assume that there is no other intelligence life in the universe simply because they have not contacted the general public in a manner in which their existence cannot be refruted is a rather ignorant and arrogant approach in my opinion. As there are millions of planets there are millions of possibilities.

In other news: The Mars Rover Spirit celebrated its sixth year on Mars a couple of days ago, not bad for a machine which had an estimated lifespan of ninety Martian days (Approximately ninety-two earth days). Unfortunately she's currently gotten herself stuck in some soft sand and with the onset of the Martian winter approaching in her location, her days may be numbered unless she can free herself.
Her sister Opportunity is still carrying on the mission.
Amazing to think that the distance is something like 170 million KM. I wish I could stand on that landscape and see Earth in the sky. Probably not in my lifetime though.
