Its kinda like trying to argue with C3pO

As an aside, I found you could drive about 15 LED's in parallel with a 556 in astable mode running about 60-70 Hz. directly from the output saving lots of battery power! The 555 doesn't have the source or sink current rating. No need for a load resistor either.
