For any kind of decent crew management, it is a necessity - your men are gaining experience/renown, but vanilla SH3 only allows ONE promotion and ONE Qualification IF you have a very good patrol - yrch. SH3Cmdr not only allows you to rename your men (I like historical crews), but you can promote anyone who has earned his next rate - which on some runs may be as many as half your crew! Not to mention that my firm belief is EVERYONE better have a Qualification after 2 patrols at the latest, or they get booted!
The vanilla flavor crew sets are also blah - SH3Cmdr gives you the option to have a realistic set generated for you at start - and many, many other things that enhance the bloody blazes out of this simulation! Bottom line - don't leave port without it! ![]() |

![]() Not to mention the fact that every crewman was awarded the U-Boat badge after two war patrols. Only Commander lets you do that in one drop.

I did my first patrol last night, and noticed that every nation and names on the map was green. And the merchant ships were black.
Thought it was due to any new mod that made it more realistic, cause you need to spot the ship with your eyes insted of just looking at the map to see if it are friend or foe. But then in my patrol area I spotted two ships that was sailing with the Great Britain flag, and i decided to sink them. And I did. But then i noticed on the map that the ships that I sank had green icons. WTF? I thought GB was my worst enemy. And the logg said that I had sunk two Neutral Ships. !?!? |

Ok, first of all, you should always read the manual, as this is covered as well as many of the other things that crop up on the forums but hey, it's a well known fact that most men refuse to read manuals......
GWX starts the career in August 1939 one month before war starts to allow you to get to your patrol grid in time for hostilities as well as helping to clear a bug with loaduts and upgrades through forcing 'shakedown patrols'. I'm sure people will chirp in with expansions on that but really, you should read the manual as it will answer any question you have or will have and it's a damned good read to boot. Not trying to be unhelpful but just read the manual and over time when you see this question asked for the 100th time you'll understand.

Haha, I guess my actions pissed of the british a little bit more then. Sorry. But i'm really bad at reading manuals. I mean any kind of manuals. I'm more of a self-learning guy. But i guess i should read them then. Thanks! ![]() |
