That's too bad. When I was a kid, I interviewed one of my uncles who was a gunner on a DE? and fought kamikazes. Sadly I don't remember it. I'm pretty sure we taped it, but that was a long time ago.

Sadly my great-grandfather a month after I was born. My Grandfather didn't mention that much about his time in the Royal Marines either, but he did mention once to my mother about an incident in Malaya during the 'Malayan crisis' where the rebels found out how the commandos used to greet the children of the villages and pick them up and such when they came running out to greet them. So...the little bastards put bombs on the kids, and after a number of men were killed or injured by this, the RMs were ordered to shoot on sight any child that ran out to greet them.
Of course, the children didn't know any better and...well...
This haunted him for the rest of his life.

I love hearing the first hand Vietnam war stories. When I was in high school, we watched Platoon with my best friend's dad (he was a grunt in Vietnam) and he shared with us his expirences. Many of the little things that were in Platoon, he had expirenced. I also had a coworker who fought at Khe Sahn as Marine recon. He had some freekin' wild warstories.
I also met a guy that served around John Kerry, apperently all that stuff was true about him (the swift boat stuff).
I also had another co-worker who was a swiftboat vet, he'd been hit by an RPG

I'd love to meet Randy Cunningham and Robin Olds and here them tell their story first hand

Interesting stuff.
