i dont currently have SH4 installed right now.. but his could prove helpful:
Alot of games (like medieval total war 2) have a widescreen option you can toggle on/off in their settings. This does not mean what you think it does. It makes it look like you are watching a widescreen moving on a square TV. To get "real" widescreen so it fills your monitor you need to leave that unchecked and set your resolution to a widescreen format (16:9 or 16:10). as i said, i dont have SH4 installed right now so i cant check for you.. but someone should look and see if there is one of those "hokey" widescreen toggles. one thing to note about LCD's. They have a native resolution. Setting your desktop (or game) to a different resolution will always have it stretched to fit your monitor. So it's best to have your desktop and games set to your native resolution for best quality else you will get blurry images. with that in mind.. the only way you would get a cropped image is if you have some sort of useless widescreen option turned on. |

I don't think SH4 has that widescreen option you mention. What I did was set my desktop res to 1440x900. The native res of the monitor is 1600x900. When I went into SH4, those options were there. The only cropped images are the menue screens. The ingame screen is full wide. Looks like all is well now.

umm yeah, the menu screens are cropped.
btw, you are better off setting your desktop & games to the same resolution. You get quicker alt-tabs and less problems when doing so. |

I was wondering about something else. For some reason, my SH4 shows extremely bright in game. I have a color profile set up for 3d applications via my graphics card control panel. My IL2 shows beautifuly, while SH4 is very bright. What I mean is, when you're in the control room view, or any interior view for that matter, it's as if a really bright light is on. Even exterior view is brighter than normal, and nights don't get as dark as they should. I don't know if adjusting the gamma option in the settinggs would help.
This monitor has an "auto bright" option, which when enabled, automaticly adjusts the screen brightness with the exterior lighting of the room. I wonder if this could be causeing a problem. Anybody have this type of feature on their monitor? If so, do you keep in enabled while gameing? |
