It seems to me that this campaign-system is not too different from the actual SH4 campaign. You get renown points for new stuff and if you are good enough you'll get a new boat (if historically available). The new idea as I understand is that you propose a demotion system if you e.g. pull a Rockin Robbins (forgive me RR

) and hurt your own navy you'll get a demotion (or in fact worse).
It seems that should be possible to implement, but what could the consequences of a demotion be? Give up command of your boat for a lesser model or for good?
And if you really want to alter history: You could change the progress of the war but it'd still be lost.
But overall it sounds interesting to have missions that you can also mess up and have to face a penalty more than some negative renown.
