Default Stopwatch question

Just re installed SHIV + UBM after being away for awhile. I've got TMO + the latest OM version now up and running perfectly.
I hate the way you have to click on the toolbar to get the stopwatch to appear only to have it disappear when changing views. This back and forth really is annoying when doing manual plotting. I'm used to SHIII where it stays put. I've read about changing this to a key command to activate/deactivate the stopwatch. I've searched but cannot find it.
Is there a simple fix for this (in the commands.cfg file I think) without getting involved in the whole setkeys route.

Thanks guys and it feels good to be back again.

Default I asked this question before and

I tried to start a thread on this subject, but I think Peabody (or someone else with knowledge of these type of issues) did not agree. I think it is a legitimate issue, especially when a player wants to switch screens while the stopwatch is running. I switch screens regulary, and continually having to reopen the stopwatch in an attack scenario is nothing short of a pain in the ass. If someone can give us a fix to keep the stopwatch open while switching screens, permitting it to be closed the regular way, it would solve this problem. I'll get you a date with the dancer below if you take it on. Maybe fxing it is harder than it seems?

I concur with Hemisent, who has cogently retabled this issue which goes to the heart of user friendliness of the program, which is tough enough without this aggravation.

You are killing me!! I know about the "x" key!!!! I don't want to have to use it except to make the stopwatch disappear from the screen.

yep, its in the stock game along with many others that arent well known

to see what they all are just open the main silent hunter folder and use a photo program to open the "SH4_Q-Ref_Card_Front" image file. it shows the keyboard with all the cammand keys labled for you.

some of them are changed by mods like tmo or rfb so the read me in those mods should explain anything thats different when using those mods.

Yes x for stopwatch is in the stock games and most mods do not change it.

However it still poofs when changing screens which is a tad annoying.

I do not want this guy going 5150, does anyone know if you can make the stopwatch stay up on top once deployed, as you move from attack map to periscope or other pages for that matter?

As long as I do not TC, I just use a real stopwatch that I got on ebay!

I agree that an always on top option for the stopwatch would make attacks much less aggravating. Ideally, if installed the mod should be able to be turned on and off in-game. Sure would make attack map/nav map/periscope view switches during attack setup a lot less maddening.

I'm digging up this thread to find out if anyone ever came up with a solution. (I was going to start a new thread, but figured I'd be a good forumer and use the search tool )

I would really like to be able to keep the stopwatch on the screen ALL the time. I've considered using a real one, but occasionally I like to TC when on a long sonar intercept.

There was also a discussion about it here:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...ight=stopwatch

but no resolution.

What I would REALLY like is just to have the seconds displayed on the "digital" clock that is in the bottom right-hand corner of the UI. I keep a paper and pen next to my keyboard and write down times for each "X" I draw on the map. I have to bring up the stopwatch to see the seconds, but if it could be added to the UI clock, it would eliminate this extra step (which does get annoyingly repetitive)

The stopwatch on screen at all times is a must, at least for me. I hope someone can come up with something to make it so.
