Oh dear heavens, Paragraph Man to the rescue!

I was returning to port after a lucky score with a large convoy, 5 dds...Gone, 2 takao heavy cruisers pulverized, 2 Large old Tankers smashed, 4 smaller vessels in the deep, and the biggest snag of all time.....the Huge European Liner (the one that has 18k tons) was dug shallow watery grave.

i had 1 torpedo left. it was a cutie torpedo, a torpedo i never wanted to use. so as i am returning, i get two warships long bearing 259 closing. as usual, i dont slow down, thinking they would pass me, and tced to 2500 when they turn around and head towards me. Me being in west Java, i had nowhere to run. i shut off the engines and dived as far as i could.

For a moment i thought they would lose me. for the moment......... i resarted the engines at standar, and all of a sudden they swirved around and headed for me again. i didn realize this until they were 1000 m away. knowing they knew i was there, i push to flank and swirved around the boat to face them. 700m 19 knots.....i opened my 2nd torpedo tube.....the last torpedo was about to be used. i input all the data as fast as i could and checked range......550m far enough.....fire.

i switched to external camera ( i didnt turn it off) and i watched it go through the water. i skipped ahead and saw the destroyer had sped up to full speed and swirved dramatically. the cutie was approx (i dont know for sure) 100m away, but it didnt change course. i slammed my fist on the desk as it wooshed by. the destroyer was now 200m. i ordered hard to starboard. to my despair i clicked hard to port and i headed directly for it. didnt realize until it was too late.

my periscope bashed into the dd....Hard the boat practicaly capsized (if it was possible in the game to capsize). my periscope kept hitting the side of it. and for some reason it caught on fire. it had 2 massive blazes on it. i was astonished (this is the first time i saw this happened, not the last). it listed to port and within a minute it went down. i almost screamed F**k yea right there. but i wasnt clear yet.

the other dd was 700 m away. there was nothing i could do. it closed and i ordered hard to starboard, bot it didnt matter. it dropped its load and it scored a direct hit. 45 hull damage both prop shatfs destroyed 3 bulkheads hit and flooding. my observation periscope was destroyed and i ALREADY suffered a casualty along with the entire crew wounded. i also had a heavily damaged steering control system. i knew i was a goner the second time.

he Turned around and dced me again. this one not as bad but still did alot of damage. 85 hull dmg and the bulkheads were almost completely destroyed. the next one would no doubt end me.i realized then i didnt save my game after attacking the convoy. i slammed my first on the desk and nearly cried. it siwrved again. 500m away. i up the attack periscope and watch it come towards me. icouldnt escape. i couldnt turn. no way out. Torpedo impact. what?!!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?.

i turn my periscope and see a giantgush of water on the dd's portside. it appears my cutie torpedo wasnt entirely useless. it came around and hit the dd on the gut. it had 2 moderate fires and 3 small fires on it. it had many small explosions and pieces blew off it. it was 300 m away when i see the words enemy unit destroyed. it exploded in a huge fireball and went down by the head. i was so amzed i didnt even flip off the monitor saying YEA EAT THAT MOTHER F**KA.

i was happy for about 5 minutes until i remember whats been done to my ship. i surface the boat and survey the damage. 85 hulll dmage. both pro shafts destryoed. 2 diesel engines destroyed. compressor destroyed. AA gun destroyed. almost everything else is damaged. i say to myself this is bulls**t. i turn on the damge control team and rub my head trying to find how i could get home. i remember that id bought a lt. just be4 this mission with the sepcial affect that allows you to reapir destroyed things.

I turn on his ability and put the destroyed items at the top. i repair them down eonugh so that when the effect wears off it wont matter. i sit thre for a week in game time and reapir many things. by time i reapired enough stuff to limp hom e, my Dmg control team was 75 fatigued. i started the engines and limped at 8 knots back to surabaya and ended patrol. that why im the luckiest man alive so to speak

Cutie torp stories are always the best. A captain hasn't lived until his little twisty-seeker finds the mark minutes after it was presumed lost!

A great story my friend. These are the ones you will always remember. Just like in the War. You never remember the routine runs......It's always the fast and furious so to speak.
Those moments only you and your crew will remember. Of course coming here and telling your story is alot like going to the Bar after your return. Getting drunk and regaling us with your survival...........:salute :
