I think that your crew is still not experienced in 1939. I had a similar 'problem' at "Skagerrak" when leaving Kiel 9 September 1939. With only one Polish destroyer!
Anyway, happy you did not die and could sail back to Port. ![]() |

Not to mention the Irish Sea is mined, especially the northern channel.

I always try to hunt on waters with at least 300 meters depth...yesterday I accidentally TC'd at 220m in silent run...for some reason I still don't know my sub started to go deeper and deeper after a while I noticed I was at 276 meters and was starting to get hull damage due to the pressure.
![]() Ignore hunting on swallow waters except if the convoy has 1 or 2 escorts with her, otherwise....leave them alone edit: it was actually near 26X m :P ![]()

Yes, time compression can do that to a sub. But good recovery and escape

So today, I'm on my third patrol, and heading towards my patrol grid South west of Ireland. I come from the North around Scapa Flow, and South between Isles of Lewis and England. About halfway through I pick up 4 contacts. A small sailboat not moving, a coal barge and two small PT boats heading north. I decide to sink the sailboat, so I bring the rear of the sub around and launch my aft torpedo. It hits causing an explosion, which knocks the sailboat fifty feet in the air cuasing it to do barrel rolls, I'm told the torpedo missed, but still get the kill for the sailboat.
![]() Three PT boats rush towards where the sailboat was, but by then Im already sneaking away. I am finally nearing the end of the channel, and I'm at periscope depth. My sonarman picks up a warship, and I decide if I get the shot I'll take it out with my aft torpedo. The sonarman reports that the warship is at 170 degrees, midrange. I think wow, I can't be so lucky, and decide to raise my periscope, except the ship isn't where the sonarman said it was. I turn the periscope more towards the aft of the U-boat and my vision is blocked out. ![]() SO: Depth Charges in the water! CE: We're taking damage! CE: We're flooding! CE: Critical Flooding! CE: CE: CE:Critical FLooding! CE: CE: CE: CE is drowned out by the rushing of water. I'm then greeted by the Mission Failure screen. U-48 has been destroyed. All 51 lost at sea. Luckily my last save is just north of here. I'm not sure what type of boat it was that sank me. It was a medium sized boat with a depth charge rack and a deck gun. Also, why did the CE keep having blank messages?

First of all, what year are you playing on??
At the beginning of the war equipment isn't the best around.....so I think it's a equip failure not your crew doing anything wrong...

1939, And our death was my fault. I should of taken us deeper and avoided the warship.
