Thanks everybody...

I've updated the layout with some improvements. The last one went a little blurry by the resize. I've been working a lot to make this one look better. This time I got it razor sharp.

I also made the prints 1,5 mm smaller so that the laminate has more to attach to in the edges. I had to carve a little extra on the last one to get a reasonable bit.

Same link to get the layout...

Seeing your disk has a bolt and nut as the hinge you probably are able to take it appart again. I very much suggest to add a free pointer to the angle, speed, range, time side to help in crossing the speed/range scales to the time scale. But make it long enough to cross the whole disk anyway.

To easily calculate distances over times longer than an hour I first calculate the distance travelled in one hour for a certain speed. That is at the 6 minutes mark ( as it is the same mark as 60 minutes) on the time disk if the fixed pointer of the time disk is pointing to the speed. The distance travelled for times upto 2 hours 40 minutes can be found at each mark if you add a 0 to the value at the mark and read that as the amount of minutes passed.

But how about longer than that?

Keeping the free pointer on the distance value that was against the 6 minute/hour mark, I then rotate the timedisk until the 1-00/10 mark (1 minute, 10 minutes, ...they are all the same) is under the free pointer. (the fixed speed pointer shows a bogus speed now, don't pay attention to that anymore) Now looking at the distances along the edge of the time disk, you see the distances that are travelled during 2 hours upto 16 hours. They also have appropriate 10 minute subdivisions.

Great idea. Like you said, it's easy to do that.

Someone asked me the following (through PM). I figured my answer might help those that are wondering the same thing.

Quote:
I don't realy get your time calculation. What's it with the 60 minutes and every mark there after? As I can see it you can only get to 16 not 24...?
Hi,

Well, If you go clockwise full-circle around this logarithm-scale you end up at the same mark, but the value is 10 times bigger. (in some logarithm scales you end up 100 bigger, like in the U-jagd or OLC Range/AOB finder wheel, but I digress...) So, as the 6 mark is meant to be 6 minutes, it is also the same as the 60 minute mark eventhough the 0 is not shown. If you count counterclockwise, you end up at the same mark but it is now 36 seconds (6 minutes/10= 360seconds/10= 36 seconds). See that that 6 mark is just to the right of the 35 seconds mark in the skin-colored area. Also check the 2 minute mark being above the number 12 in the skincolored area; there are 120 seconds in 2 minutes.

Now, If that 16 minute mark is the same one as the 160 minute mark, then you can calculate with times upto 2 hours and 40 minutes (simply because 2 hours is 120 minutes, and 40 more is 160 minutes). ONLY, you must be aware that the distance is also 10 times more than what the mark for that scale shows.

It's easy to misplace the decimal point with these tools, but doing the multiplication/division yourself takes alot longer to do, with possibly more errors too.

Mind boggling, isn't it !?!

Oh yeah, that small arrow on the time disk that points to the speed should really be above the 1-40 mark (as that is 100 seconds). NOT on the thin red mark. I don't know what it is, but is is slightly wrong for the speed. (I know, I'm nitpicking here, but I like that so 'sue me' )
