I loved to play the original "Gangsters" and did it for many months. I was free
to expand anyway I wanted. Then "Gangsters 2" came out. I was thrilled until
I bought it and went to play. They scripted it and on the shelf it went never to
be played again. I never tried this "Mafia" series after getting stung with G2. I know the graphics will be better but will it let me be the BOSS and play it the way I choose...

Mafia was pretty amazing. It did an excellent job at making you feel like you were back in the 1930's. It was pretty much a 1930's style Grand Theft Auto. The subway/trains were really neat. They put alot of attention into detail when developing the environment for the game. Its definately a work of art. The programming was excellent with no noticeable bugs (most definately a finished product). I look forward to the next title.

Since the game has almost been forgotten by the gaming community, I had hoped through some quirk they would release the sourcecode of the original Mafia. I wanted to see what could be done with this game if it had really free gameplay and all the things that the fans wanted. Now that is not going to happen. But alas, if we get Mafia 1952, and it will have linear missions, I'm still looking forward to it.

Mafia had the potential of being the greatest game of all times, and I am playing ot from time to time.

My nephew came to me just last week to do some taxi driving in Lost Heaven (because of his age I forbade him to kill anybody and had any eye on him lest he'd do anything else than drive taxi)

Mafia should be scripted, with the additional nonlinear free mode like the original. The first Mafia was very engrossing, a great immersive game.

Loved the first game. Lets hope this one is just as good if not even better.

Got to agree with FAdmiral when it comes to Gangsters. It was one of the first games i brought when i got my first PC. Just loved the way you could expand anywhere on the map. Gangsters 2 was just a bit one dimentional with it being total scripted.

What with Medal of honour airborne, GTA 4 and Medival total war empires on the way ive got plenty to look forward to.

And scripted it will be, there's no reason to believe they will change their mind this time. But dont you agree that it was a bit of a waste to have the most giant detailed city with working tram and train transport when all you could do was drive around? Every time I play Mafia I dream what it would be like to enter one of those doors and talk to somebody, steal, rob the Bank, etc. I am more of a RPG player and micromanager you know ..

I for sure believe they will have a scripted main storyline this time as well, though I hope we get more non-linear things to play with this time besides the main story.

The free ride options were ok, but just barely to keep one interested for some time after the main game (which I have played 5 times).

I hope we get some elements that GTA has, like being able to buy a house, car, weapons etc...it would make the game a bit more lively.

I still hold Mafia as being one of the best SP games ever created and I see the need for another strong linear (I guess) story that is well scripted in order to try to fill its shoes.

Graphics so far, judging by the screens looks awesome.

I found Mafias Gameplay bland and the gun fights hard, but the story was so great I had to keep going.
