Don't know whether it can be considered as a bug or not, but here's me reporting that sometimes, SH3 commander mixes things up a bit in the campaign loading screen (I use the french version), at the end of the text, SH3 Commander reports uboote and Allied monthly losses. And sometimes, I get the last name under which I saved mid-patrol instead of the allied tonnage sunk.
Maybe knowing that is enough for you to find out and fix the bug in question... Tell me if you need a screenshot though.

It's not a bug, moreso an SH3 real estate limitation exposed by SH3Cmdr. Simply, SH3 was not coded to expect more text than what SH3 displays by default. Normally, the extra news brief text that SH3Cmdr adds isn't a problem and is displayed fine. However, when reloading a save game, the save game file name will sometimes overwrite the bottom part of the SH3Cmdr briefing due to where SH3 places the text on the screen. It happens more frequently for French players as the briefing text is longer.

This was first raised and discussed way back in 2005. I trimmed as much fat out of the news briefs as possible to minimise the distraction, and created what I believe was the best compromise between meaningful information and SH3 text limitations. IMHO what's there now is much better than trimming the text to one line or removing the feature altogether (both of which are IMHO gross overkill for a minor visual distraction that only occurs when reloading a save game, and even then not every time).

Anyway, if you find the text truncation too distracting, then, in the absence of the SH3 source code, the only other "fix" is to trim the contents of SH3Cmdr's "Menu variable_**.txt" file and make each entry shorter until it's no longer as distracting. Whatever suits you.

I just wanted to give a shout out to Jaeson. Thanks for all the time and effort you put into this and Jsmge. I've been using your software for the last 2 years and i wouldn't know what to do if i was playing without it.

Great job!!!

Thanks, but it's been there since January (oddly, according to the date added, 5 days before I even released it )!

I've just PMed Russ asking if he minded me using his link as the primary source for SH3Cmdr.

I will add it to Subsim downloads as an alternate source at a later date (pending the answers to a few questions I have asked Sailor Steve). In the meantime, I ask that *no-one* uploads SH3Cmdr, the Aircraft markings add-on, or JSGME to Subsim.

Another quick question I bet you've answered a hundred times. Sorry.

When I get back from a first patrol.

Can I give all the crew a Patrol Badge without, draging one to each crew member separatly ?

A one click thing I'm missing ?

I removed the "Update All" button in R3.something - seems it was too confusing for some users.

Only way now is one-by-one.

Sorry if its been asked before. But I can't seem to start a new patrol on a later date. Whatever the date was when I docked, is the date I depart my new patrol on.

I'm running GWX 3.0 with the necessary update to make SH3 commander compatable with GWX 3.0

Yeah tried that. Didn't work. Seems to just stall after one patrol for me. Ah well, such is life. Any other recommendations guys?

*Edit. Actually my bad in this case. Assumed that in game calendar date before departing on patrol was same day as it displays in the office.

Hello.
I'd like to ask what is the difference among "GWX 8 hours" , "RuB" and RuB 1TC" fatigue models in SH3 Commander. I've been using the "No Fatigue" model for too long and prior to beginning my new career i thought that it would be nice to play the game with a fatigue model installed which allows the player not intervene too often in order to do the micromanaging of the crew.
Any ideas?

Hi guys,

Got a bit of a problem. A few days ago, I was running GWX 3.0 with SH3 Commander 3.2. All was working fine. Yesterday I uninstalled it all and then reinstalled (I'm using the Steam version if that matters).

Now SH3 Commander doesn't seem to work. What I mean is, when I boot up GWX via SH3 Commander, it doesn't seem to have made the changes (eg. the intro movie still plays) and it doesn't say "loaded by SH3 commander" in the bottom right of the screen.

I installed everything properly. Installed SH3, then GWX 3.0, then SH3 Commander 3.2, then the GWX config files. It's just annoying, as it was working fine before I reinstalled everything!

Any ideas? Thanks guys.

A quick search yielded a nice summary from Sailor Steve back in February (to the same question asked)...

RUB 1x is the same, but geared for use when playing a patrol entirely in real time. Again, not something you want to use unless you understand exactly how it works and that's what you really feel the need to do.

I still use the GWX 8 hour model, simply because I like moving the guys around, but I also know that over time they get tougher and can last an 8-hour shift without having to be watched all the time. SH4 is a vast improvement in this department, with full watch shifts that change themselves when they're supposed to.
More on the RuB model by it's author here.
