Rubini has given some excellent advice over in the SH4 threads:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=128517 The advice is based on using nVidia cards but you should be able to apply the same or similar settings to your ATI which may improve the way the game looks. Nothing ventured...
