Ok, there is the link to my movie reworked:

http://files.filefront.com/Meeting+w.../fileinfo.html

I need also say a little explain about the movie, explain who seems necessary because I had a feedback from french people who ask me why I have shifted black & white for color and after back again in B/W.
I get an answer but its to precise and I can't traduce exactly...
If someone is enough strong to translate I will be happy and I thanks him a lot.

And I finish with a very big thanks to TarJak to this contest.

Regards.

NP Chisum.

Now that all the entries are in we can get the show on the road.

Judging will be taking place over the next week and each movie will be judged on its merits in terms of the criteria in the first post of this thread. What I'm looking for is a good solid story being told concisely and with atmosphere. Unfortunately the comedy aspect looks limited as most of the pieces entered are fairly serious. But that just makes the best drama category more exciting.

Voting in the peoples choice category is now open. The poll will close on 10 March. Cast you vote and see who is leading the race.

To all contestants good luck and may the best films win. Prizes will be announced with the winners of each category.

Movie #1 and #2 look to be excellent but they are to dark to see. Might just be my computer.

Anyway, my choice was Mr Flecks. I have seen his work before and it is all imaginative. The real clincher for me was bringing in the British sub. Unexpected and very cool idea.

Well the problem with the darkness is the compression. I have the uncompressed verion on my PC and it looks fine. But compressed all the detail get lost, however if ypu are in a darkrom you should still be able to see the important sections.

Thanx for the kudos AVGWarhawk and Eberhardt!

On my left shoulder there sat a tiny dragon and kept saying "I need more drama, baby!" ... therefore the twist

Cheers!

I'll keep my fingers crossed for all the submittants! For me the most important thing in this contest is to motivate people to make their own U-Boat movies and movies about naval warfare. There are too less movies covering this topic and there should be more!

Cheers!

Note that in my case, the movie was not made to this occasion and it's a real hazard if I'm present in this contest lol. But you right, it's important to motivate due the incredible work means made a movie.

About the darkness I suppose that the jury can watch all movies in real format and quality it is not ?
But for us who must watch only on YouTube it's a real pity.

About the vote, I think also that "Fate Mr Fleck" is born to win and it is already in my video collection.

Some great efforts there people....it is really difficult to pick from the pack.

I've two in mind and will make a decision soon.

It's just a pity that the votes can be seen before the individual casts their preference.

Not in my case at least since the hd version would be several GB big and I dindnt want to upload that. He got a 3 mbit version which means its still highly compressed but at least way better than youtube.

Regarding the effort put into my video: oh well yes, ot was qiute some work, I guess it took me about 50 hours or so ( preparations like nodding amd ideas for for camera movements etc, the dilming itself with some trial and error and of course a lot of postproduction with AE, what imo makes my video the brst looking one at least in daylight)

But its rewarding when you finallY fonish you piece of work and its something Im proud of and Im still learning. Next time I wont use nightshots .

Sry for badwritimg I used my Ipod to write this on the go hehe .

Agreed! Next year I'm getting in on this, going to use Dangerous Waters to get a nuke subsim movie, to add some variety.

Although we are only permitted to vote for a general favorite, I really think that Torpo's entry should win best cinematography, and best soundtrack. Based on that alone, I voted for him for best overall. I think the entry was just stunning.

That being said, the main reason I voted for Torpo was that I had a hard time deciding amongst the other entries in all other categories. Enigma looked pretty damn cool, but the resolution of the video made it hard to tell. Probably a fault on my end. Dolphin also looked like it could be pretty funny, but I guess youtube removed the soundtrack, which kind of diminished the humor value.
Fate was ****ing awesome, possibly better than riding the waves, except in the categories of cinematography and soundtrack, imo. It was difficult to decide between the two, but Riding the Waves reached me on a more personal level.

2ndBestKiller should get mad props if nothing else for beautifully synching the Das Boot sounds with his video. The only reason I eliminated him from candidacy best overall was because of a nitpickiness towards historical accuracy.

Meeting with History, while really cool, was decidedly lacking in submarines. It's a bit of a cop-out judgement, and I am sorry for that, Chisum, but it was so hard to decide which video was the best, I had to start getting really picky.
For the record, you win the "Most Epic" award in my book.

After seeing all the entries, I'm glad that mine was plagued by technical difficulties and time constraints. I would have been quite embarrassed had I submitted mine

Thank you all for the effort and time you put into your entries. It may not mean much, but you entertained this skipper long enough to evoke the ire of his roomate for neglecting duty in the scullery
Good job, guys
