Thanls for the reply. It makes sense about the authentic settings. I always use the imperial setting as I play US subs. I havn't worried about the speed too much, as I play using th Dick Okane method with fast torpedo and have very good sucess. When I start using the John P Cromwell method then I would take into account the speed of the torpedo. I am still not very good a long range shots, but then again. I need lots of practise.

I don't know if it was an US or Russian merchant, but if it is, than I will pick on the Japs, since there is plenty of those ships.

Thanks for the reply. Wouldn't the torpedo depth settings be it metric or imperial be the same as the map setting. If I choose imperial for the map thur the game settings, wouldn't the torpedo depth setting be the same. It a good thing I leave the depth setting unchanged if they are different.

If you have "Imperial" selected in your game settings, all measurements should be Imperial ... including those in the recognition manual. Ergo, torpedo settings should correspond to keel depth and, like mast height, should be in feet. Also, map distances (measured with the ruler) are either in yards or nautical miles, depending on how far you extend the ruler. TDC distances are in yards ... where 2,000 yards equals one nautical mile.

agreed, but I know when SHIV first came out there were dramatic discrepancies between keel depth and torpedo depth mainly because the torpedo depth was using meters instead of feet. You'd set what you thought was 10 feet for your torp and it ran much deeper due to being at 10m instead. At least that's what I think the problem was!! LOL.

I remember the problems when it first came out. I think one of the patches has fixed that problem. Don't remember which patch fixed the problem. I know with adding V 1.5,TMO and RSRDC the game is a much better improvemt over stock. I'm pretty sure when I select the imperial setting thur game setting, that the map and torpedo settings would be in imperial. I play with magnetic contact influnance on and have a depth of 5 feet or less and hit every target providing my other stettings (AOB, distance, speed) are set correctly. I have not tried under the keel shot, as I like to hit targets and not miss. I just need to practice and see what happens, after its only a game and I can always reload and try again if I didn't like the first results.
