Default Snowy graphics

Been a while since my last post here at subsim. I just installed and began playing SH IV gold/wolfpack missions V1.5 and I was wondering if anyone experienced slightly snowy graphics display. The game has some sort like an old analog TV appearance. I am not sure if it's really an issue or it's intentional design to give the game some sort of 1940's news reel feel. Definately did not have the same experience with SHIII appearance which seemed crisp and clean like any other game I have played.

I have a ATI Radeon 4870 graphics card. I have tried running the game is various resolutions without any noticable difference. Even though the effect seems subtle it is enough for me to fixate on and annoy me.

Any ideas?

Views inside the sub appear to be 'grainy' film. I think this is intentional.

Exterior views are crisp.

Not sure if this is what your seeing.

Turn off "Post-processing effects"(or whatever it is) from the graphics menu

Yes, that's exactly it, grainy. I think it occurs with external/bridge views as well. I'll double check when I play it again. It's definately noticable in the command/sensors spaces.

Well I guess I'll have to be content with the appearance since it's intentional. Does anyone else find it rather annoying?

Gosh, it's been so long since I've seen the stock version of the game I can't recall what the view looks like, but you may want to try some of the mods here. Super Mods like Real Fleet Boat (RFB) or Trigger Maru Overhauled (TMO) use modded interior views or you might try one of the visual mods, Enviroment 5.0 (EE5.0) or Pacific Enviroments 4.0 (PE4)...From my understanding, RFB incorporates PE4 and TMO incorporates EE5.0. (TMO may use an older EE version, so to be sure, you may put EE5.0 on top) I've got a hunch that may improve your asthetics problem for you. I myself, use TMO with EE5.0 and all my views are stunning. No grainy pics here !

This was the early mod to remove the grainy effect.

It also now exists as part of a supermod like Trigger Maru.
