well...about the different Balao and Gato interiors...
the Balao and Gato classes were in the same series. Just like the Ford Mustang from 2004 and the one from 2003. They were, in effect, the same submarine, different metal, deeper diving depth, same boat.

the Balao is sometimes referred to as a Series II Gato.
just like the type VIIC improved is a VIIC/41. Same boat, just improved

EDIT: aaand because I can never reach a point, the Gato and Balao are the same boat meaning they have the same interiors. Defense rests its case.

They were very similar however the Balao class was a stronger construction, deeper diving (and more). I would prefer not to discuss this here and instead concentrate on finding a solution.

There is hope for the stand alone 600' Balao gauge Webster - That genius Mikhayl came up with a solution that should have been obvious if I wasn't so focused in one direction; and I'm about 1/3 completed so far....... we'll see. S3D is wonderful too !!

Edit - 600' Balao is 95% done! (calibrating the gauges is a bearcat .... lol ) Might have to be satisfied with 'close' depending on the graphic - ( texture ) used. Stock & Oak Grooves are very close.... but not exactly identical after re-sizing the dials to fit.

Here's a close-up preview with Oak Groove's brass textures that I use:
(I'll upload the stock texture with the new Balao when it's done)

yes i PM him and he actually made the fix for himself but he told me he quit playing sh4 and doesnt even have the game anymore so he deleted all his files including the fix lol. :rotfl: so i guess hes strictly a sh3 guy now.

we are all very glad he remembered how he did it so he could tell it to you.

well if you stay with stock you cant go wrong because proper working stock guages is the key target IMO. not everyone wants to change the look of the stock guages and besides that, any wanted changes in textures can be reproduced without too much trouble. if it were me, i wouldnt make brass guages part of the mod unless you do a stock and a brass version and leave it up to the individual.

It will be all stock - I was just too lazy to swap out Oakgroove's texture & brass for the screenshot - stock interior, stock texture, and I'll wrap it up in JSGME format for you too.

Soon ;-)
