Somewhat true. But I think the PC's greatest strength is uprgradeability.

That being said, Mac can run anything a pc can. OS/X Leopard
I'm using Vista( ) on my Mac right now. Even better, when windows inevitably suffers some catastrophic failure, I can reinstall Vista and keep all my data, because it's backed up on the Mac side of my hard drive.

I don't really take a side in the Mac/PC battle, but I will never forgive Microsoft for Vista. It's like they combined the most annoying auto-features of XP with a paranoid system that questions every user command in the GUI. I have yet to have Vista ask me if I wanted content from an online source, or detail said content, or block it when harmful. And it takes around 512 MB of RAM and costs $200 as well!

Mac, on the other hand, requires me to take my iMac to the Apple Store to upgrade the video card . You can pretty much forget about upgrading the CPU, cooling system, or motherboard as well. It's nice that my monitor is also my tower (Flatscreen, widescreen, and very portable as well ) , but I'd rather have the option to upgrade comparitively cheaply. A new iMac costs upwards of $1500, and a simple video card upgrade can add $200 to the price of the card tself.

IMO, neither firm has it right just yet, but I'll stick with a Mac simply because I won't have a catastrophic failure that will force me to buy a new computer. Obsolescence sucks when it inevitably happens, but it's better than an OS failure that causes you to lose all your data.

You do know that you can have multiple partitions, drives, external drives with windows? Always keep your data separate from the OS.

System Recovery works great in Vista and doesn't trash your data like XP SR did, even if they are in the same partition.

The real problem would be when you go to the software store to a program fro the mac. You have such a wide selection.:rotfl:

Actually, the problems I had with Vista caused motherboard failures, twice. At least, that's what the tech told me. I prefer the triple-security of backing up my files on thumb drives and on OS/X Leopard.
I'm a bit naive when it comes to the more complex aspects of computers. It's not a science to me, it's more like voodoo magic. Vista made me buy two new computers. Mac didn't. Vista can crash any number of times in any way it wants to (thus far), and all it requires is about 45 minutes of reinstalling the OS.

I'm not claiming to be an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but for me, Mac has been better luck.

Well, the Mac ought to look like Vista. After all Microsoft spent years and millions of dollars trying to make Vista look like the Mac's OSX.

Bottom line for me is that PC's are better for SH and chess software from Germany. Mac is better for everything else I do.
