Man, sorry to hear that. About a year ago I have lost 7 years of my data (all my digital camera pictures, most of my graphic design work, etc.) because of almost brand new faulty Western Digital drive. Did you backup your important data before it happened?
Believe me, I know how you feel...

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I'm sure you have already heard it but, backup important data. Cd's are cheap.

Hope you get up and running soon.

I would buy an external storage drive for your backups - USB - select what you need to back up. Storage capacity is 4x my computer hard drive and they are cheap. I have 3. I just buy a new one each year and store by year. Sorry - been there and suffered that myself. I just ordered a Western Digital Element 1TB 3.5" Black External Hard Drive for 100 USD. See a huge selection w/ specs:

Either that or get a RAID card and extra drive and backup your data in real-time. That's what I've done after my crash. They are fairly cheap too.

Thanks for all your suggestions.
Fortunatly I have a storage drive with all
my SHA site stuff so I didn't lose any of
that. My 8 years of family pics were also
there so I guess I am prety lucky.

A raid devise? was mentioned. What is that?

In a nutshell:
RAID is a card (kinda like a graphic card) you install in an empty slot in your PC. Then you hook up two identical disks to it and start saving your data in one of the drives. If you have the RAID array set to "mirror" (RAID1) all the data on your drive will be mirrored to both of them in a real-time. If your drive goes bad you will always have another (identical) drive with your data left intact.
If you have any questions, PM me and I'll do my best to answer them.
