Is being near to the surface in rough seas harder for a destroyer to detect than being in medium depth, said, 50m?
I believe that the sonar ping for a distance check is heard by the DD's.

The last post on depth checks had confirmed reports of DD's hearing the ping. I can vouch for this as well, though it doesn't always happen and seems to only effect DD's with good crews.

I have wondered about the effects of shallow depths on DD sensors myself. Can we get a confirmation that this is not better than being deep and at what distance this is the case?
